Sympatico/MSN Music
The challenge?
Sympatico needed to re-invigorate their music portal. They turned to us for a complete redesign (look, feel, navigation, and page layout) that would offer a fully integrated, targeted multimedia experience. It had to showcase everyone from the latest up-and-coming indie artists to the biggest major-label stars. And Sympatico wanted to maximize revenues via sponsorship opportunities and create cross-promotional zones to promote other channels.
What if?
We came up with a look that screams “Music and entertainment” and loaded the platform with interactive tools (including video and audio players, a Flash showcase, polls, etc.) that can be used throughout all the Sympatico/MSN channels. For MSN Music, that meant creating an artist hub page that aggregated all relevant content - videos, interviews, ringtones (with links to Shop MSN) - and added dedicated sponsorship and zones and interactive tools that allow music fans to interact on the site.
So what?
Sympatico's goal was to boost their opportunities to serve ads and the re-design delivered. Comparing the month after launch to the month before, total page views were up 93%, page views per unique visitor were up 85% and time spent on the site increased 74%.
